I went back to late 1974 for a re-do. It was probably ill-advised, but it was interesting to see how I changed things. The original is in the 70's sub-gallery. I used felt-tip, color pencil/watercolor pencil and gel pen. Image area 10 by 8 inches. Original Jones Art colorizing himself in northwest Austin,Texas. Critical analysis:
'The Scar succeeds as a poignant meditation on how trauma—whether physical or psychological—becomes an undeniable feature of identity. Rather than attempting to conceal the "scar," the artwork elevates it, turning a mark of disruption into the central decorative and conceptual axis of the face. Through meticulous draftsmanship and bold surrealist motifs, the artist creates an unsettling yet captivating vision of modern angst and resilience."
