I started this painting last week and finished it a day or so ago. I think it is inspired, and/or gains emotional momentum, from the needless killing that goes on around us on a constant basis. The killing is so incessant, so in our collective face, that we go about our lives numb, turning our eyes and hearts away for fear of the great enveloping sorrow that would ensue. There is a sickness in our world at least as insidious as cancer and we MUST find a cure if we are to survive as a species.
This work is titled, 'Sorrow (less the tears).' It began life as a small drawing which I will include. The eyes see everything, yet cannot weep. This piece comes to you direct from my inner world and makes no apology and has no regret---save that it wishes art could purify others in the same way it purifies the artist. 12 by 16 inches on gallery-wrapped canvas, this is a gift for a world that misconstrues art in much the same way it does love and morality.
