Unmasking

I'm somehow reminded of those Japanese actors with the white make-up here. I tried to shake things up by starting off with watercolor, then adding some color pencil and finally some gel pen. The drawing measures 6 by 4.5 inches on heavy bond acid-free paper which took the watercolor very well with little or no wrinkling. So who's masking and/or unmasking appropriately under the honor system? And isn't an honor system of any kind quite pass'e in the 21st Century?
