Seems I'm doing a lot of side shuffling nowadays though I'm afraid the speed at which I side step the obstacles 'today' puts in my way isn't what it used to be. I'll give you a couple of for instances. I now have a heart condition and there are pills the heart doctor says I need. Said pills are very expensive so I found a prescription assistance program that paid for them---otherwise, I would have shot through my meager savings like a sneeze through your average Kleenex. Trouble is, when it came time to get the second batch, I was told I had to 'prime the pump' by calling the program folks. I thought it odd, but did once. Fast forward and I've received calls twice since that said pills were at doc's office and ready for pick up. Say what? Someone dropped a ball and, in today's world, just couldn't be honest. Then AT&T told me to get a new phone because their 3G service was going bye-bye. I looked at my phone, researched, and found that it was a 4G, not a 3. BUT those great folks sent me a 'new phone'---bottom of the line flip-type. What happens? The last day of the month they said they were killing 3G support, my 4G phone goes into SOS mode----making it essentially useless. The data that came with the new phone says go on-line to activate. Trouble is, they send a text with a code to your phone to verify it's you. With no phone working, how do I get that code? I also can't call their 888 number. So now I have to drive to the nearest AT&T store and deal with those folks to get the POS phone activated. So, yes, lots of side shuffling going on. Can't I rewind, say, forty years and try to side shuffle away from this 'brave new world?' This is a 6 by 4.5 inches gel pen drawing with color pencil on medium bond acid-free paper. It's another 'over the top' example of what Original Jones Art experiences daily in northwest Austin, Texas. Now don't get me started on the FedEx person who can't read house numbers that are 6 inches tall on the side of my house and makes me deliver packages for him/her/it. 5 times starting mid-December last year. And once since I painted my number large right outside my front door. Sheesh!
